On a VERY warm morning, 25 Fire Hogs and additional friends of the Motorcycle Club met and had breakfast at Corky’s restaurant in Orange County. From there the group rode together over the scenic Ortega mountains on Highway 74, only slowing down at pre-determined stops to pick up more riders along Lake Elsinore. It was then on to the 15 to Temecula for fuel and to add a few more riders.
The group continued on the even more scenic route along Highway 79 to our destination in the San Diego mountains of the old mining town of Julian. There we were joined by five additional riders from another firefighter’s club “Wind and Fire ” up from San Diego and were holding tables for the group at the local watering hole. This group has joined us in many of our activities and are a real pleasure to hang out with. We ended up with 30+ friends, old and new – having lunch, exchanging stories, relaxing a bit in the clean mountain air. After downing a few slices of the famous Julian apple pie, all headed leisurely home in smaller groups.
This year, June proved to be a little too warm (107) for this ride, so we will try for March next year. The chase truck was greatly appreciated – good call Armando and Chris. Many thanks to the members that put out the extra effort to join us from farther away. Y’all join us next time, Any riders are always welcome on this ride.
