R.I.P. Bill, Thank you for being a calm, easy going but we’ll respected mentor to me during the early 80’s when I was a rookie at 33’s. It was a very intimidating place to walk into with the likes of Majesky, Mr Dirt, Dan Henry and Captains Browne and “Ned” Nelson . Bill, Mike Porper, Andy Vidovich, and Frank Lucero always had time and lots of encouragement for a brand new boot-ass who had no fire “sense”. Bill was a true “Gentle -Giant” A man of few words , but lots of patience and time for teaching . Thank you my brother.

I worked with Bill for many years on Truck 11 in the late 70’s. Bill was a great friend and team member on all events at the station. Always wanting to learn truck work and passing that knowledge to the new fireman.
    My condolences to Bill’s family.

Sorry to hear the passing of my classmate. It’s true even during the academy Willie was the quite one of our group. We never worked together but would run into one another and laugh about out time in the academy. Rest In Peace

Many a fire and lots of ‘tailboard’ time with Bill 40 some years ago in Battalion 11. It was a great joy to me when you made AO. You are among the best men I know Bill. RIP

Billy came to FS 50A as a new A/O, The crew was pretty seasoned and had old “Mad Dog Butler” as the skipper! William handled it all, as a true gentleman giant, that he was! Sad to here of him passing and God’s peace and blessings to the Shern Family!
