My Condolences. Joe was my Captain II when I was a young firefighter at FS 61. He was a strong and well respected Station Commander.

I worked with Joe when I was a rookie back in 1978. He was a great Captain and beat me in Racket Ball all the time. My condolences to the family.

I’m honored to have known Joe. He beat me many times in handball. He was a great man, and fun to be around. My condolences to his family, and especially his two wonderful sons who I also had the pleasure of knowing.

I worked with Joe shortly after he joined the department at 34’s. For those who did not know him he said, the “is” is silent at the end of his last name. He said he had given up trying to explain that to people. I always left it silent. He was a good fireman (we were not PC in those days) and I could see he was destined for a rise in rank. We lost contact over the years. My condolences to his family. He was one of the good ones.
