John was the guy who opened my eyes to becoming a fireman… I was 16 and I wanted to be a policeman, John would talk to me about what it was like being on the LAFD, and how much he loved the Department… Thank God I was shown another direction…. John, rest in peace and thank you….
I met John (Jack) at “Old 17’s” in Feb. of 73. Due to both of us enjoying off road Motorcycling we spent a lot of time riding for fun, riding Desert Races and competing in Off road “Enduros”. One of the highlights was winning first place “B” Team (3 riders) in the 1977 Greenhorn Enduro which started in Pasacena and finished near “GReenhorn Mountain”, near Lake Isabella. I last saw Jack at his home in Paso Robles where he had a small walnut orchard, and had moved to a few years before retiring. Rest in peace my friend.
