John was a fun guy to work with, never knew what he was up to. I worked with him at old 28s and old 3s. RIP, John.

There is no doubt where John White is right now, and for the rest of eternity. He is with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ whom he has served faithfully for decades. Heaven is celebrating his arrival. Please pray for the comfort and strength of his family. I know that John is in paradise. Thank you for all you did for me my brother.

John White is a loss to all of us. He was there for many and would drop everything to be there for his fellow firefighter. He is where his heart wanted to be along side Jane his wife and with the LORD. We will all miss him but for the time I was able to know John both on and off the job I am grateful for what I had. I will see him again and with a big smile he will come up to me with his big hug and welcome me. Rest in peace my friend you’ve reached your goal in life.

I am Grateful that John White now rests with Jesus. I miss his tremendous Heart and Love for All.
John White has Always been a tireless & Diligent worker sharing God’s Love and Gospel. I was Privileged to have had John’s mentor ship & guidance on the LAFD and FFC. John & Jane Always demonstrated what a Christian marriage should look like.
Tremendous Love and Respect,

MIKE HILLIGER says
John White was truly a legend on the LAFD. As a firefighter and a Captain, John was the best truckman I have ever known, second to none. His ability to teach others by his tremendous experience and his ability to tell stories was unique.
Many would say that there were two John Whites. The John White before Christ and the John White after giving his heart to his savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. For most who knew him well, after John became a Born Again Christian, the Lord brought him a help mate, his wife Jane, who was able to take the rough edges off of her husband, and was the prayer warrior that kept him together for so many years.
John was the most profound evangelist I have ever seen. If John was in a conversation with you, the topic always ended up centering around the saving work of Jesus Christ. John said to me and other young F/F to be the best you could be at your job and people would listen about Christ!!
I was privileged to work with John developing Fire Fighters for Christ in the mid-70’s. Under John’s leadership, FFC has expanded into a world wide organization!
We on earth will suffer the loss of a very special man of God, and heaven rejoices that another saint has entered the presence of God.

We lost a great one with the passing of Juan Blanco. What a treat to know this man. He was a tough guy with a huge heart dedicated to serving man and God. I can imagine him meeting Saint Peter with a challenge to wrestle. John spent a lot of time with my Mother on her deathbed and she told me he was a big comfort spiritually. As Mike said Heaven was waiting for this one. John gave me a lot of laughs and taught me to be a better fireman. I will miss him a lot.

I first met John when he was a Fireman at old FS 3 and later worked with him at FS 9. Always a fun guy to work with and a great firefighter you could count on to have your back. When my wife was involved in a horrific accident a few years ago, John was the first one there at 5:30 am the next morning to say a prayer for her and give my family strength. Through his Service to Mankind, he has touched literally thousands throughout the world. A great human being!
RIP my friend, you and Jane are together again!!
Bob Munoa says
John was a long time friend. John was one of the strongest men on the LAFD, if you ever finger wrestled with him or threw ladders you’d be impressed. He could not only pop up a 20’ straight up by the bottom rungs, but also the 24’ straight. When we had Fireman’s night a Disney Land he would entertain my kids while waiting in line to get in. John spent a lot of time helping others, very unselfish. He came to my shop to get old leaf springs to fabricate sheet metal cutters for FD’s in Mexico. John’s passing is the loss of a good man, firefighter and friend. I just talked with him at the firefighter luncheon on the 6th, as usual he greeted me “hey 10 Bears” and then with his bear hug. Rest In Peace my friend you will missed and remembered.

A gentleman, old school fireman, and an example of a man we all could look up to. His great smile would always draw people to his side. RIP John.
Jim Littlefield says
I have known John, for many years. But, one time stands out above all the times that John was there to help guys on the department, was when we were able to help him. I was the floor captain at OCD, when I got a phone call from a frantic and shaken John White, he and Jane were on their way home from Hume lake and had just been notified by their daughter that she had been involved in a serious traffic accident on the I-15, between Las Vegas and Barstow. She and her kids were all transported to Loma Linda Medical Center, which for John was 7 plus hours away. He asked if there was anything we could do to help and I told him I would get back to him soon, just keep driving. I had my wife go down to Loma Linda to be with John’s daughter for comfort, started a Chaplin on the way, but most important were able to get air ops to fly up and pick up both of them and flew them to be with his family. This was one time that the LAFD was able to give back to John and Jane for all that they had given to it.
Linda Malcolm Wood says
I first met John at the old Fire Dept. Headquarters on Hill Street when he was assigned to Station 3 and I was starting my first day of work as a secretary at the Fire Prevention Bureau. John became a lifelong friend. What a blessing it was to be able to attend his wedding to his beloved Jane in 1974. When my husband died suddenly in 1998, John and Jane were the first to call me that evening to comfort and support me. I last spoke with John when he called me last year and we were able to spend hours talking and catching up as he was driving to his destination. I will always be grateful for his friendship and Godly influence in my life. Through John’s witness and example during those beginning years of our friendship, my then future husband (who was working with John at 3’s) and I very shortly came to the Lord. What joy to know that he has been reunited with his Jane and that they are both worshiping before our Lord and Savior.
Gary Jenkins says
John White was a man of Honesty, Integrity, and Loyalty and always set an excellent example for all others to follow. We love you my friend, rest in peace.
Mike Littleton says
I first met John in 1972 while being involved in the Aerial Ladder spot/raise practical exam for Auto-Fireman. He was the Tillerman who assisted the B/C that was evaluating my operation. After the pre-check was completed, I was allowed to spend a few seconds with John to tell him what I expected of him as the Tillerman. After we had spoken, he ended the conversation by saying something encouraging. I thought “It was nice that he said that”. When the operation was over and the rig was back in its staging area, I shook hands with the Chief and began to walk back to the check-in point. I looked for John to thank him, but he was busy prepping the rig for the next candidate. I got a few yards away when I heard a voice yell “Hey!” I turned to see John with a big smile on his face and giving me a thumbs-up sign. The next time I saw John was at a Greater Alarm fire about 6 months later. As some of the companies were picking up, he and I were able to talk a little. I thanked him for his words of encouragement that settled me down prior to the event and for the thumbs-up sign he flashed as I walked away. He played it down and made a remark that got us both laughing.
The next time I saw John (and met Jane for the first time)was at the second ever Firefighters for Christ event at Hume Lake. John’s gentle spirit will be missed, but the consoling factor for me is that he is reunited with his precious Jane and they are both in the presence of their Lord and Savior. I know you are resting in peace, my friend.
Greg Godfrey says
