Our infamous Uncle Don, aka “Doc Holloway” will be missed. . . RIP “Unkie”… For those of us growing up in the LA area in the 60’s he was a movie star to us💗 .. He was a regular on the Hobo Kelly cartoon show and started the fire awareness and prevention portion for kids.. I bet there are some of his caricature drawings still around LA, He was funny, bright and always happy.. Extremely talented in many genre’s, in retirement he was a DJ in Kona Hawaii, played in local bands and loved music… It’s a great loss to our families as he was the last Holloway child of Darious and Nola … God speed Unkie, many loving arms to greet you in heaven… Hug my momma for me. Although I knew Don in his later years his loving spirit was obvious as soon as he spoke and encouraged those around him to take care of themselves first so we can take care of others sooner. He had a great voice, played guitar and was always up for great conversation
Rest In Peace Don, you were one of a kind , very kind gentlemen

I had the good fortune to work with “Doc” at old 4’s from April 75 to January 78. Back then a lot of Stations had a “Cast of Characters” and Doc was certainly one of them. I went to his home in Covina on one occasion to help him with a “Car problem”, and got to see his “Ricky Nelson” mural covering his garage door. After we found that the car issue was beyond our skill level, we ended up going for a street M/C ride up Azusa Canyon and down Glendora Mtn. road. I still got e-mails from him in retirement from MO. and I will miss them. I last saw Doc and his Wife at the “Retired Fire and Police Association” luncheon at the Grace Simmons Lodge in Elysian Park last year. Definitely one of the good guys on the LAFD. RIP Doc.

Doc was the Battalion 17 “aide” as they were called in 1979 (now known as staff assistant) when I was a rookie. He was always a gentleman and had a smile on his face. His art, humor, and music will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Doc.

Thanks Doc for being a friend, and maintaining my hair on P2. I don’t know how I managed that 100% increase when I became an Inspector II. We had fun, played a bit of guitar and sang together, and what has happened to that Elvis collection? Take care – and be seeing you soon, my friend.
