“Hocky” was one of the “cast of characters” at FS 63 (Venice) in the late 70’s. It was a bunch of guys that had fun, pushed the envelope a bit, and did a great job when the bell went off. He was a man who smiled a lot, and was well-liked by the crew. When we needed a 4th for handball…he was in. My condolences to the family. Ed Sandell- Somis, Ca
Steve, sorry to here about your father. Seems like yesterday you and I were sitting next to each other in the Academy.
I did get to know your father when we bowled against you guys in the Firefighter’s league. I always remember he looked to young to be retired.
Hope all is going well for the Hochenedel’s…my condolences
I worked 63’s in early 1979 and worked with”Hocky”. What a great guy to work with and be around. We had a great crew and the fun and laughter went on all day. I learned a lot from Dave. He was also a very fine craftsman and he could build almost anything. Rest in peace my friend.

Buzz, do you have an email!! God Bless Frankie
Thank you all for the kind words about my grandfather. He truly was the greatest guy.he laughed as often as he could, and would gladly take the shirt of his back and give it to someone in need. I dont know if there was anything he could not do. He live lived life to the fullest, and cherished his time as a fireman. He had the best stories about his buddies on the force!
I just read this notice. Dave was the nicest guy and one of the most talented men I ever met. Tom and I send our sincerest sympathy to Dave’s family
