I’m sorry to hear of ‘double D’s’ passing. My deepest condolences to his family. I first ran into Dale while he was at 90’s. When he was promoted to captain I had the privilege of working with him and his crew. Always found him to be light hearted, a good family man, and a solid leader. Thank you for the memories. .I’ll be seeing you, my brother in Christ, Jean

Dale was my mentor in the Fire Prevention Bureau in 1970. Light hearted with a quick smile. I can hear his voice as I write this. RIP my Friend.

Dale was the coach of my son Mike’s baseball team at Winnetka Park in about 1973. My wife came home one day and told me about the guy who was a fireman and he was always able to be at the teams practice, and that I needed a job like that. So after talking with him one day about how he was always able to be at
the teams practice. That conversation started my journey into the LAFD. With his encouragement and a lot of luck I was able join the LAFD, and after probation, I also was able to make most of my three boys baseball games and practice’s. Thanks Dale for taking the help me on the way!

I just heard about Captain Dickson passing away. He was a wonderful man, a great mentor, I’ll never forget when he told me to come out to 104s A Platoon and ride out with him. As an Explorer at 70s where I started is where I ran into Captain Dickson on a run.
It was the greatest experience for me as an EMT/ Explorer, he taught me to work hard, scrub the toilets and be compassionate with all that I encountered. It was fun at 104s with him, Engineer Buch, Paul Blum, Don Mackay, Danny Martin. Wonderful memories.
God Bless You Capt..
