When I first met Capt. Cornwell was in Recruit Training at DT89, he was one of the instructor. He played the good cop. He was the Captain you could approach and feel comfortable asking a question. Years later he made Chief and was my proctor on the driving portion of the A/O exam. I stalled the rig 3 times I backed over the Fire House, yet Chief Cornwell acted like I did just fine. For the record he didn’t fail me (which was hard to believe).
Years later I drove him a few times as an aide. He was such a gentleman.
Proud to have know you Sir. RIP
