Mike Bowers says
Boyd was one of the engineers at my very first house. He was really a good guy and was supportive of me as a rookie.
I will not forget the Chinese checkers games that were played. Each loser had to pay the winner a dime. I never lost because I was rookie and wasn’t allowed to play. Many times a loser would throw the board and marbles on the floor.
Boyd was a conservationist. He raised rabbits over his worm beds. He then sold the worms somewhere and the rabbits to the butcher.
He was a true gentleman.

Thank you, Mr. Bowers, for your comments. Dad did enjoy his worms (sold from Ventura to Little Rock Dam) and his rabbits (sold to neighbors and in El Monte) 🙂 We ate a lot of rabbit growing up. He didn’t talk much about work when I was around. After retirement I remember driving him to see his old captain, Gordy Hall. He definitely had a passion for the guys at the fire house but you wouldn’t know it unless someone else brought it up. I appreciate your memories of him.
