When a loved one passes away: Taking care of funeral arrangements

October 1, 2022

Dealing with the death of a family member can be devastating. So many questions, especially deciding how to take care of funeral arrangements. Financial and emotional support is crucial for those who aren’t prepared. For members needing help, the Los Angeles Firemen’s Association is here to assist. Retired Captain I Lorenzo Brazley describes how valuable the Relief staff is when you are facing difficult times.

Funerals: Support when you need it

The Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association provides a death benefit for members in good standing of $5,000, given to the named beneficiary after the member passes away. As a member of the Relief Association, you and your dependents may access additional services during this difficult time. Along with the LAFD Chaplains, we can assist members and families during periods of bereavement with counseling, guidance and funeral arrangements.

Cemetery Plots

The Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association has some cemetery plots now available to dues-paying members in good standing, for a cost of 50% of the current market price. Click here to learn more.

Members participating in the optional Life & Accident benefit have additional options, click here for details. For full details and additional information about the Relief Association cemetery plots, call (323) 259-5285
