Fallen LAFD Captain II Dave Moorman is never forgotten. Dave died of a job-related illness in 2017, after serving on the LAFD for 28-years. He was only 50-years-old. He left behind his wife Amy, their children Elizabeth and Richard as well as his mother, Carol. The LAFD, along with the Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association, the umbrella organization that runs the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund, helped the Moorman family at the time, providing much needed support. One of the ways our LAFD hero is remembered is by an annual event called, “The Dave Moorman, ‘It’s all good,’ Over the Line tournament.” It raises money for the Widow’s Orphans & Disabled Firefighter’s Fund. His widow Amy Moorman is forever grateful and offers thanks to the people who volunteer, and shares why the Relief Association is so special.
Helping LAFD Firefighters and families from the beach!
The Los Angeles Firemen’s Relief Association and its firefighter charity are always there for firefighters and their loved ones in times of need.
Bill Bringas, retired LAFD engineer who founded the event says, “The Relief Association is a great association. They take care of us, why not do something to take care of them? In turn what it does, it takes care of the families that are in need of money, whatever they need, medical help. So, we’re one big organization, and family, why not do something for them? I always encourage guy at these events, because they’re fun and promote comradery. It’s a way for us to give back to them, they take care of us, they’re always there for us. If we need to call and ask them for something, to help us out they take care of us. That’s the whole reason I do this.”
