Obituary:
March 10, 1937 – August 20, 2023 Lewis Eugene Storrer, age 86, of Huntington Beach, California died on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at his home in the presence of family due to complications related to congestive heart failure. Lew was born on March 10, 1937, in Burlington, Iowa to Joseph and Estellene Storrer (both deceased). The middle born of five children, Lew graduated from Burlington High School (Iowa) in 1955 and attended Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California majoring in locksmithing. After his initial jobs which included working for his father’s grocery store and the telephone company, his career began as a fireman, where he loved helping people, and was eventually promoted to auto fireman in the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD)  He eventually retired from the LAFD in 1989, after 29 years of service, thereafter enjoying 34 years of retirement.  He lived in Huntington Beach, California with the love of his life, Jackie. He was a Christian man and spent many years attending various churches and bible studies and said grace at family mealtimes.  Later in life he attended church virtually. He was hard-working, good humored, honest, caring, and responsible.    Lew loved collecting antique padlocks & keys, going to swap meets, garage sales and shopping for antiques. He also enjoyed classic cars, water skiing, dirt bike riding, camping, hiking, reading, crossword puzzles gardening, and soaking up the California sunshine. His enjoyment of life via social and recreational activities influenced lives including neighbors, co-workers, and family. He loved learning and excelled at fixing things. But more than anything else Lew loved his family and friends. He was an informal teacher, always there when you needed a hand or just a smile or a laugh; and always made it a point to check in, not only with his brother and sisters, but also his friends. He was the bright light to whom the family always flocked and while Lew’s light here on earth ended, his memory will forever burn brightly in the hearts of everyone his life has touched. Lew is survived by his wife, Jackie Storrer, daughters, Kim Storrer Creyaufmiller and Kellie Ann Stone, son-in-law Don Nelson Stone, granddaughter Heather Marie Creyaufmiller, sister Pat Henry, brother Bill Storrer and sister-in-law Theresa Storrer, sister Lynne (Storrer/Harris) Castillo, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Douglas William Storrer, son-in-law Gregory Gene Creyaufmiller, parents, Joseph Leonard and Estellene Ellen (Nelson) Storrer, sister Colleen (Storrer) Humpton and brother-in-law Don Humpton, brother-in-law Homer Henry, brother-in-law Robert Harris, and brother-in-law Richard Castillo.
