Annual Assessment Update

Relief Members: Be informed that for the first time since 2009, LA Firemen’s Relief Association will adjust your Annual Assessment a small amount – from $36 to $48 starting September 2017. This small fee is used to keep your member benefits and services going strong and is part of your membership agreement.

Active Relief Members:

To ensure that you are paying the correct amount of $48 for 2017, you will see a deduction for Code 96 LAFRA Assessment on your check with Pay date September 13, 2017.

Retired Relief Members:

From September 2017 through December 2017 you will see a temporary deduction on your Pension check of $6. This ensures that the full $48 assessment payment for 2017 is correct.

Assessment payment details:

  • January through August 2017, you have paid a total of $24 (at $3 per month)
  • Starting January 2018, you will only pay $4 per month (deducted from your pension check)
