The Relief provides compensation for members who become sick or injured in situations not connected with normal duty (NIOD). Compensation rates are as follows for active members:
Whether active or retired, members must be under a doctor’s care for 7 consecutive calendar days before qualifying for the benefit.
Retired members may receive a daily benefit of $10 upon proof that they have been unable to perform any gainful occupation or duty because of a disability caused by illness or injury. A 20-week maximum of $1,400 total benefits per injury or illness will be paid (see By-Laws, Section 4209).
Relief membership dues are deducted each pay period with automatic deduction approval.
