Durable medical equipment (DME) is an important and vital component of our Relief Association. After evaluating our Medical DME Plans, the Association decided to implement more cost effective methods to manage this necessary benefit.
Durable Medical Equipment coverage applies to the purchase or rental of medical equipment, mechanical devices or supplies that are deemed by a physician or other third party as durable.
Examples include wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, muscle or bone stimulators, wound closure devices, hospital beds, etc.
Effective October 1, 2015, the Relief Association has 5 DME items available for checkout on a first-come/first-served basis available to Relief Members or the member’s qualifying household including spouse, widow, qualified domestic partner, member’s dependent child, current step child and any parent or parent-in-law who resides with the member and is dependent upon the member for care. These items are:

- Folding Walkers
