Rodger was an A Shift Engineer when I first got to 14’s. Great Engineer and a pleasure to work with. We shared a love of classic cars. Rodger was a perfectionist and his cars we always top notch. He bought a new 454 SS Chevy truck and had to pull it apart and make it better than factory. Rest In Peace my friend.
Sandra Dawn Yacoby says
Thank you Mr. Munoa. My father loved being an engineer. He was well suited to it. He loved his cars best of all! We are organizing a “Hot Rodders’ Farewell” by the Donut Derelicts…the longest running un organized car show in history. They gather at the Adams Donut shop in Huntington Beach, CA. Hopefully we can get enough RatFinks to drive through the Memorial Park and make a lot of noise for this special mans’ send of to hot rod heaven. If you’ve got the mind to, drive through or attend the service. All are welcome…Thank you for your kind words about my dad…Take Care and Stay Safe.

Roger was a great guy. If you wanted a laugh all you had to do was hang around him. Sorry to hear of his passing.
Sandra Dawn Yacoby says
Thank you Mr. Bowers….My dad was always laughing and smiling. He was great to be around. Always positive, attentive and interested in what you had to say, when he could read your lips! Most of all he was fun! I’m really going to miss this character, and am so lucky that he was my dad. Take Care and Stay Safe.

Capt Yacoby was my 1st Capt. at 14’s. My first shift we responded to a Major Emergency and as a wide eyed rookie, Cap was standing in the corner watching me very calmly. I never forgot about him throughout my career.
RIP Cap.

Hello!
My father was pretty quite about what went on at the firehouse. Sometimes he would tell us about the shenanigans….the cakes spiked with Malox left for the following shift was one I remembered. Tell me more! I know he was a character…always teasing and laughing, but I’d like to hear about his devilish side. Please Share! Its too late to fire him for inappropriate behavior!
Thanks in advance for any secrets you’d like to share.

I worked with Roger when I was a young fireman at FS-14 in the 1970’s. Roger was an Engineer. He was a great guy and great at his job. Always willing to help others. In the following years I would run into Roger occasionally and it was always a pleasure. R.I.P. Roger
