I enjoyed working with Tim, there are many funny stories to tell, I’m sure he would love for us to pass them on. On January 17, 1994, 0431hours, we were violently awakened by the Northridge earthquake. The dorm at FS105 was pitch black, guys were tossed out of bed, light fixtures crashing down, windows shattering and one of the biggest guys at the station, was screaming like a child. Apparently, Timmy had been up just before the earthquake struck, using the men’s room. He had just gotten back to bed, therefore he wasn’t woken up from a deep sleep. Behind the screams you could barely hear Tim saying, “it’s okay fellas, it’s just an earthquake.” Tim’s “mostly” calm demeanor was a great attribute during emergencies, always helped to bring the stressful incidents down some. He will be missed and thought about often. My condolences to family, friends, and everyone that knew him. May God’s grace and mercy bring you peace that passes all understanding.

What a wonderful story about my Brother Tim. Thank you for sharing. We would love to hear more. My e-mail is auntiesandy12@gmail.com. I am Sandy, Tim’s older Sister. We just can’t understand how a fireman of Tim’s background could go up on the roof in 110 degree weather and not be aware that he could get heatstroke and die from it. Send me more.
Best Regards
Sandy Wilson, Big sister

Thank you so much for this funny story about my brother. I appreciate all the nice things you said about him, he was a character and always used humor to calm his sisters down. He was the only son of 3 daughters and Tim. He was our protector. He will be so missed and in my heart forever.

Tim was on my shift at Fs 105C
I always liked his calm demeanor and his funny ways . I was a fairly new Engineer appointed to the station in the late 90’s . I asked him if if he was ever assigned to ride the Engine . He said to me .. listen kid I sit up in the back of that Hook and Ladder truck . That what I do .!! I do not ride in a medical response vehicle !! I had to laugh because he was a stuck in his ways kind of guy.. We had a good time together at the station. . He hated to cook so I would always help him out..
I called him the Birdman! There are many memories but I truly had fun with Tim.. my condolences to his family

Tim and I were assiged to FS 74-C, The Rock, in 1986. Tim was a good fireground fire fighter, he could act as engineer and apparatus operator. Tim was also our permanent cook and put out some good meals. Back then, when we tested hydrants we would wear our gym shorts and running shoes, park the rig at the base of the hill and run from hydrant to hydrant around the block, move the rig and do it again! Tim was also a pretty good volleyball player. We had a sand court behind the fire station. When Tim and I were on the same team we would get Tom Stimson all fired up and bet him a soda that we would win again. Afterwards Tom would owe us a 12 pack, Tom would run into the fire station grab 12 random sodas, throw them in a large baking dish, covered with ice and take an ice pick stab all of the cans and serve us our sodas. Tim and I graciously accepted our payment as we sat down with 2 straws, drank from the pan and enjoyed the sweet taste of victory.
I extend my condolences to the family, Tim, thanks for the great memories. R.I.P

Dear, My Hero LAFD Firefighters & Tim’s buddies,
I thank you very much for your stories about my beloved brother, Timothy Steven Wilson. He was such a good and loving brother, husband and Dad and a great cook who knew how to feed an army, as he always did when he cooked for our family, too. I guess it is learned behavior from his years at the fire station. He was my personal hero. He was a good, true and responsible man. His silly, kooky humor, made our whole family laugh and be happy. He loved all his animals, all his hawks, falcons, horses, doggies, etc. He was a true Outdoorsman and Adventurer who didn’t seem to fear anything. His strength, his constant and unyielding support of our family was never ending. I wish I could have saved him. He was so full of life and had so many plans for his future with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. They were his whole world. He was so proud of, and adored his handsome, young & only biological son Steven, that he and his wife so lovingly shared with the rest of his family. His son was recently married to a beautiful young woman and both have been going to college to become Nurses and eventually Physicians Assistants. They both work in an emergency room and Steven is also a fireman/EMT. Tim, his beloved Dad was so proud of Steven, so inspired by his athletic abilities, intelligence, kind goodness and happy life. Steven is our only nephew and the light of our lives. I’m so sad he won’t be able to see and be part of his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He left us far too soon. Tim was a great athlete his whole life too. He was my strong and handsome brother. He and his wife had made a beautiful family and a beautiful life together.. He was ALWAYS there for me, he was my guiding light. He had such drive, he was such a hard worker. I am so sad that he is gone from my life, he was my best friend. He was the only son in a family of 3 sisters. I thought he would always be there and that we would grow old together. Our Dad, Paul C Wilson was also an LAFD Fireman. My family was so blessed and honored to be part of the wonderful family of LAFD Firefighters our whole lives. Please keep writing about him, I miss him so much. I’m not sure if I will ever get over my profound loss, but he left a beautiful and amazing legacy behind with his family and his awesome and caring firefighter friends.
I loved all the comments his buddies left on this LAFRA website, you have all really described him well, which tells me you were truly his good and caring friends. And in your stories I can tell that you all saw my true brother. I want my hero and confidant back. I don’t understand why he had to go??? He was so loved ❤️!! I will miss him forever, until I hope I will meet him again someday.
Regards from his 7 Years Younger & Middle Sister,
Patricia/Patty (Wilson) Thomsen
Thank you all so much for your kind and funny stories, they fill my soul…
