Russ was one of the engineers at old 87’s in the early 80’s. Back then he was the Explorer Advisor for their post.
He mentored many individuals through the Explorer Program. Most of them went on to be hired with LAFD, and even achieved promotions. Russ’s dedication to preparing young interested people for careers in the fire service is commendable. He was a good engineer who saw the value in assisting qualified candidates to become successful LAFD members. Rest in Peace Russ, you did good.
