I sat across the table from Mike Many times as an Advocate for the Department. We did not always agree, but he did his job and later we would call and talk about the situation. He was willing to listen to me and I always Respected him for that.
I will say if I ever got into trouble he was the 1st person I would have called.
I would like to express my condolences to the McOsker family and also Pat who I worked with at FS 20. RIP Mike
David J Raya says
I never worked with Mike on the job. However, Mike and Pat started the Union Station Steward Program from day one, frequently leading us on our classroom sessions before union meetings. Even after he retired, he would attend union meetings and give historical perspectives on many union issues. Mike was intelligent, respectful and would listen to all opinions. My condolences to the McOsker family. RIP MIKE!
Sonny Garrido says
R.I.P. Mike. Thank you for your hard work for the men and women of the LAFD and to your community.
John Vidovich says
Mike and I have been neighbors for 30 years. He was the guy most of us in the LAFD know as a Union guy. He was great for UFLAC but as a neighbor and friend he will be sorely missed by our family and neighbors. This past year Mike celebrated his 60th Birthday and the birth of his first grandchild. He and Shannon just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in August and we’re leaving for Spain next week to celebrate. Life is so unfair at times and leaves us all to ponder and ask the lord why. Why Mike Why Now? I can only think that heaven has some major negotiating going on and they needed a calm cool collective man to make it happen. Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again. I will keep a watchful eye on your family.
Tom Ottman says
Mike was a caring compassionate man who fought hard for our rights as Firefighters. He would always leave his ego at the door and do what he thought was best for the membership. Labor/Management negotiations can be tense at times but Mike never made it personal . He was a true gentleman who loved his family and the LAFD. My condolences to the McOsker family.
Rick Erquiaga says
Mike and I served at FS 11 from 1990-92 on opposite shifts. Mike’s UFLAC service often required him to be detailed out of the station to represent members and I would “hold over” for him on the C shift. Mike always kept a cool head and soft spoken, professional demeanor regardless of turmoil swirling around him. I am grateful for the service Mike and Pat provided to our City and Department. My condolences to All the McOsker Family.
Rest Well, Mike!

Thank you for your service Mike, and a very special thanks for all that you did for me and my family over the years. We all look foreword to a long healthy retirement. However Mike gave us his all with his chosen Union duties. Your tireless involvement was greatly appreciated.
You made time to share the latest news of the Union, Fire D., and how the City
was going with their agenda. You represented us WELL. Thank You R.I.P. Mike.

I worked with Mike at 11’s in the late 80’s. He was a firemen and then promoted to Engineer and came right back to 11’s. A great guy. Gone way too soon. Rest now in God’s comfort.

Mike, you will be sorely missed by myself and so many others. I recall over the years your kindness and compassion as we tried to solve the problems we encountered. You were a good man, and I am sure you will be a great asset to Heaven above. God bless you Mike, and to Pat & all of your family who feel the most deep of loss. RIP my friend…
