I was sorry to learn of your passing. I saw you once at The Grass Valley Reunion, but we did have much time to catch up on the old days at Palos Verdes Est, F,D, I remember how nervous you were about making it thru Drill Tower 89. We both made it. RIP. Duane Warth, LAFD,Ret.
Robert L. McMaster says
I had the sincere honor and pleasure of working with Larry Tackett in the early 1980’s. We were “water buddies” together at old Fire Station 73 for six years. As a “rookie engineer” I learned so much from that man. We would rotate one month on the engine and one month on the pump, so we would take on apparatus improvement projects as a team. When the work for the shift was complete, Larry enjoyed nothing more than suiting up and playing a few games of paddle tennis in the side yard of the old fire station. Larry Tackett was a member of the United States Navy prior to joining the L.A.F.D. He was a loving family man, a man of great Christian Faith and I loved him like a brother. Thank you, Larry for your friendship and for all the great memories. My condolences to the Tackett family. Until we meet again rest in peace my friend.
