I worked with Captain Simpson at Fire Station 102. I then was transferred to OCD. I would call in fake move ups at 2 am and then cancel 102’s once I knew they were up. I was approached by Captain Doug Murphy one day at OCD. He asked me if I was getting 102’s up at night? He told me Captain Simpson called in to complain. I admitted I was. Captain Murphy then said, “I’m ordering you to get them up tonight”.
A year later Capt. Simpson was the Capt. 2 at Fire Station 96. He was checking in after returning from quarters. I apologized to him for getting him up so much at 102’s. Capt. Simpson showed so much class. He told me he thought it was pretty funny and that he over reacted.
RIP Captain Simpson, we had some good times at 102’s. My condolences to all the Simpson family.

I worked with Larry when I first got on the job at 61’s. Great guy to be around. One day I was visiting him at his house in East Simi valley and I had my daughter with me. Larry and I were swinging the bull when he asked my daughter if she’d like to have a peanut butter and jam sandwich. She said sure. So we went into the kitchen and Larry opened up the door underneath the sink counter and pulled out a 5 gallon bucket. He took off the lid and it was full of peanut butter. I was flabbergasted and my daughter thought she had died and gone to heaven. Many more peanut butter sandwiches to you Larry, God bless

Hi Jim,
This is such a great story! I was so little when we lived in Simi, but have great memories.
Thank you for sharing your memory of my dad.
