I was very sorry to hear of Chief Dameron’s passing. We met at my first House (58’s) in 1971. I believe he was the A/O at that time. Our paths crossed many times during the years. My most memorable was when we were part of his strike team during the ’92 riots. We were tasked with setting up a perimeter while his crews fought countless fires those nights. Great leader, great guy, great sense of humor. An honor and pleasure to have know him.

Michael Hilliger says
Ken Dameron was my Captain when I got off probation in the early 70’s at FS 45. He was always a gentleman, a solid firefighter, and a real pleasure to work for.
He made life in a single engine fire house fun. We worked together again in the 80’s at FS 11. As time went by our friendship deepened and it was clear that he was a devoted family man and a true Christian man.
The scripture tells us that to “be absent from the body was to be at home with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8) Ken lived his life on earth quietly honoring the Lord Jesus, and now he is face to face with his Lord and Savior.
The same Lord that cared for Ken will comfort Margo and the family.
(2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

I made captain in 1985 and was assigned to 72s with a great crew that were outstanding. Chief Dameron was one of the BCs at batt. 17 and he worked a lot of sod on my shift because my chief was always off IOD. What a pleasure it was to work with him. He was one of the good guys who did a great as a BC and knew how to run a fire. His son grew up with my son in law and was best man at my daughters wedding.I believe his son is now a BC on the job just like his dad. RIP my friend, we will miss you. Chief Dameron was a very friendly and gentle person. He was approachable and easy to talk with. Our paths would meet on-duty and sometimes at Costco or Home Depot. For whatever earthly reason we would meet up by chance at numerous different locations. We would often talk about “the old days” which we both experienced. I, for one, will miss this gentle soul and may he RIP.

I first met Ken in 1967. I got out of the service and was delivering milk (milkman) at Giacopizza Dairy in Canoga Park. Ken had worked there as a milkman before he got on the LAFD and came back on his days off to fill in for vacations, He started talking to me about taking the FD test which i eventually did and passd the written. He then got me to come to 100’s and do practice orals and talk to the Division Chief (Division 3 HQ then). Got on the job a year later. Never worked directly for Ken but ran into him throughout my career in Arson. Lived around the corner from him in Thousand Oaks until we moved.
A wonderful man, a true gentleman, and a lifelong friend. He literally changed my life by taking an interest in me so long ago. I will always be thankful for meeting him. He will be missed, especially those whose lives he touched. RIP my friend. Your friend, Terry

I Drove Chief Dameron his first day in Batt. 3. We had a fire in Baldwin Hills and lost 5 homes. If not for Chief Damerons quick initial response many more homes would have been lost.
Chief Dameron was a true gentleman, and a pleasure to work with.
My condolences to Brian and all the Damerons.
RIP Chief Dameron.

Though I was not assigned with Chief Ken Dameron,
we did meet several times. He was true gentleman, that was liked
and respected by all. My condolences to Brian and the Dameron Family.
RIP Chief.
