Joe was a good man! We shared many laughs over his 30+ year career. Our rookie rotation was the same, we promoted to Fire Inspector together and engaged in many off duty social activities. He was a solid individual who was often in deep thought and will sorely be missed as his impact on others was lasting.
God bless you Joe!

I was a peer group instructor when Joe came through the drill tower. We became friends almost immediately, and neighbors when he moved into my apartment building. We enjoyed ski trips, dominoes, partying and many great meals together. He was a groomsman in my wedding, and I was his best man for his first marriage. Although we didn’t see each other often as life progressed, we always picked up without missing a beat. Rest easy my brother, you will be missed!

Joe and Daryl came thru 9’s in the early 1980’s as rookies. Terry Dickeson and George Batman were the Captains. Joe fit right in with the young crew we had there. He was an excellent rookie and we knew he would have a great career on the LAFD. We had a lot of laughs and good times with Joe.
R.I.P. young man.

I met Joe when he was assigned to FS 9 as one of his probationary assignments. He was very smart, eager and aggressive. The entire crew liked him. One of Joe’s strongest assets was his outgoing personality. We were friends on and off the job.
Joe was definitely a GOOD man.
My sincere condolences and prayers up to his Family

I was very saddened to hear of Joe’s passing. Worked with him for a number of years in the Hydrants & Access unit. He was a great guy and very diligent in his duties as an inspector. He always treated the public with respect and dignity even in tense situations. I always enjoyed Joe’s in-depth conversations about life. A truly good man that will be missed by friends and family. Rest In Peace Joe!

Joe and I served as Inspector II’s in the Construction Services Unit. Joe always displayed a Professional Demeanor with an easy laugh and quick wit. Joe always remained calm no matter what chaos was swirling around us. Joe loved his Family tremendously and always spoke in glowing terms of his children. My condolences to the Jackson Family. I am Grateful Joe is Resting in The Lord. Godspeed Brother.

A hard worker with an infectious smile.

Joe was my classmate in the Drill Tower back in ’81. “Action Jackson” the peer groupers nicknamed him,
because he was so fast with work on the drill yard. Always a pleasure to be around. Rest in Peace Joe.

Since I’ve known Joe, Whenever we were in the city, he would take me by 9’s and his last one. And talk about his history and name all the people he worked with, his vacations, time spent in each department. He loved what he did and was very proud of who he was. Theres alot of love from familiar names, and know this, he ALWAYS spoke very highly of all of you.
RIP Mr Jackson-Mad Love Sabrina❤️

“Every man is not your friend, but every man is your teacher!” That was a tidbit of wisdom imparted upon me by Joe 30 years ago when we were inspectors in the Central Industrial Unit of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Joe was always a very thoughtful individual who cared about people and events in a deep way. When I received the news of his passing I was shocked and felt a very deep sense of loss. His concerns about life and spirituality were not surface. He was a deep and sincere thinker regarding the questions about life and our true purpose. Knowing Joe for over 30 years I knew him to be a man of integrity who would not just do all he could for a friend, he was someone who would make himself available to assist anyone who was truly in need. Long live the spirit and virtue of Joe Jackson!
