I had the pleasure of working with Jesse at 12’s, he was on a different shift and we worked a lot of SOD together. Jesse was one of the real characters around the station and was one of the best at ‘WHY DON’t YOU’. I was acting Captain and Jesse was working SOD, we had a grass fire in 42’s district. We had several lines off Engine 12 and a guy started to drive over the lines. Jesse stopped him and told him to back up and turn around. As he was walking back to the panel he noticed the guy drove over the lines, Jesse explained that he accidentally opened a 2 1/2’ outlet just as the car’s open window was passing by. The guy wanted to fight, but Jesse explained he was busy right now and to wait around until he was finished. The PD showed up about that time and gave him a choice to leave or get arrested. Rest In Peace my friend you were one of a kind and will be remembered.

My first house out of training was old FS-3-C. Jessie (P-3) and Jim Chatterton (W-3) were the two Engineers. I will forever remember the way Jessie talked to me with his advice and knowledge of the job. No matter the incident or training Jessie always had a calm way of explaining the do’s and don’ts of the situation. He was also an original member of the LAFD Golf Club and an exceptional golfer. We were members of the San Clemente GC and I had the pleasure of playing a few rounds with him.
Jessie, it was the best of times knowing you. You will be missed by many many people. Rest easy and may God bless you.

Jesse was another of the good guys that will be missed by any one who knew him. I was his relief at old 3s for awhile on P3. Some of his ‘Why donchas’ are legendary, with very imaginary thinking. Always a pleasure to be around. RIP, Jesse.

Jesse came to 13’s as the pump engineer. On his second shift we has a working fire in the night. Jesse laided out up the street but stopped at the corner, not knowing which way to go for a hydrant? I grabbed the radio and said , “Jesse, turn right!” After the fire he said, ‘God told to turn right’. I did and there was the hydrant, a miracle for
Best regards to the passing of a friend.
