A fine man. A credit to the department, gone too soon……. one of the best mustache’s on the job!
I worked with Jean Sampson at the Environmental Unit of the FPB. He was one of the most organized and detail oriented Inspectors I have had the honor of working with. I used him as example on how to organize and keep track of your annual inspections and workload. You could go by his desk and he kept a log of his Inspections under a glass desk protector for review at any time. A real professional, Jean was a true gentleman. Made the job look easy and a supervisor’s dream. Rest easy Jean.
Sam was in my Drill Tower class of April’75. Nothing but a great gentleman and firefighter. Ran into him throughout our career and enjoyed our visits. Rest In Peace my friend.
Jean was one of the all time greats. Over the years that we were acquainted, he became a friend and confidant par excellence.
Jean and I were early morning gym rats at Franks, usually arriving around 0330hrs.If Jean arrived first, we listened to “smooth jazz on the “Wave”. If I arrived first, we listed to “Straight-ahead JA-ZZ on KJZZ (88.1 on your dial.”
He was a machine on the floor and was one of the most likable chaps on the job.
Have a sterling workout up there. As always, “SMOOTH” Jazz is not “JA-ZZ”!
Jean Samson a Great Mentor and Friend. Jean was in the LAFD FPB Environmental Unit in 2005 and mentored me as a Rookie Inspector. Jean was Always Clam, Cool, Collected, and Supremely organized with a Wonderful sense of Humor,
Rest Well In the Lord, Sir!
I worked with Jean at old 27’s. He was a great Firefighter and person – Great sense of humor and a pleasure to be around. God bless you and your family.
