Jim was my mentor and friend for the last 47 years. He was active with youth organizations, like the Boy Scouts of America, all of his life. He was an Eagle Scout, a Distinguished Eagle Scout, and the recipient of numerous scouting awards. He was an adult Advisor with the Long Beach Search & Rescue Learning for Life Explorer Post specializing in USAR for the last 50 years. That is where I met Jim when I was 16 years old. He has helped hundreds of young men and women enter into public safety careers. Jim was a Fireman, worked on Squads, RA’s, was a SA for BC’s, was a PSO at OCD, and assigned to every FIRESCOPE committee he could find. He and I were the only two Captain I’s ever assigned to the Planning Section (at different times). RIP my brother. You are already greatly missed.

Jim, just talked with a few months ago. You were doing well. Thank you from a rookie fire at old 27’s for being a friend, and for continuing that friendship throughout the years in your many places of work, fun and volunteer service. Rest in Peace.
