Fire station 61 was my second house when I was on probation Captain Peterson was in charge and what a great guy he was. We would have line up every morning and guys like Mickey plant I can’t even remember other guy’s names made it there objective to get him to start laughing because he would laugh so hard he would start crying. That was my experience with lineups. Have many laughs Cap and rest in peace you will be missed

Capt Jack Peterson was the TFC when I transferred in to FS 92 (handball heaven) in 1978. I was able to get that spot (a 29 yr old engineer) because of a very unusual situation on the job. Hirings and promotions had been frozen by the fed. Guys were put in acting positions…rather than being promoted. The regular engineer was now actually our acting Capt 1 on the wagon. In 1978…this house was the place I wanted to be. Exercise at the park around 8am, get the cook out (best cook on the job), and then start the games. Capt Pete was a low-key leader, and he fit that station like a glove. He was not “out to change the world”. The cast of characters (minus Davey Graf) were a collection of athletes and renegades. Davey was too nice to have to deal with us…haha. Capt Pete was a leader you wanted to please. “Engineer Pete” would be a handful for most captains…but he was an ace handball player and funny guy. Jack Peterson kept us all happy and safe…and every fire got put out. RIP Jack
