I worked with Ira at Fire Station 4, he was on the “C” and I was on the “A”. I was new to the station and Ira asked if I wanted to play him in racquet ball. Ira didn’t look like an athlete so of course I accepted. He destroyed me on the court. I learned that day don’t judge a book by its cover.
RIP Ira, my condolences to the Preece family.

I worked with Ira at FS 80, Ira was a asset and fun guy to be around. Always a reliable and knowledgeable fireman. RIP Ira

Ira was a classmate in the Drill Tower, and a few years later we worked together at F.S. 4 on the “C” . The one thing that sticks in my memory was the big “Drop Forge” that woke us up almost every morning before “Taps” had a chance. While didn’t go to many fire in our district, we were a “Move Up” Task Force, and did get into some big Fires from the move up’s. Two that stick in my memory were the Sansinina Ship explosion, and a Studio Fire in Hollywood.
RIP Ira
