Spring is here, and for many of us, it’s our favorite time of the year—a time of renewal and recharge! If you didn’t start at the New Year, it’s your second chance to make that attempt!
It’s also time to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If we are not careful, we can easily burnout if we don’t consciously make the time to recharge. Make the time to soak in the goodness and start getting things together for family vacations, romantic getaways, or even a girls only getaway. If you haven’t started planning, what are you waiting for? You deserve it! Go and get lost in the laughs with your spouse, family, and friends as your worries wither away for at least the time being! There will always another SOD day for your firefighter to pick up, but you can never recoup the time lost.
If you find yourself with no break in sight, at least give yourself permission to recharge mentally and physically with a healthy disconnect and walks around the neighborhood—leave the phone at home. Take in nature’s Vitamin D as the weather is starting to get nice again and the flowers are beginning to bloom. Stop with the excuses and get out! Almost everything will begin to work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…including you! Here’s a simple “Day Date.” Gather a blanket, create a small charcuterie of yummy delights, along with a bottle of wine, and take it to the park or beach with your Firefighter!
As you know, being in a relationship with a firefighter, we need to be flexible and understanding of our time, right? On a regular basis, we push our needs aside to make sure everyone else is taken care of. This unselfish act can dramatically impact our physical and/or emotional needs without us even being aware until it is too late.
Sometimes we just need a simple reminder that WE MATTER too! Don’t wait until it’s too late. Be pro-active, not re-active in your life. Remember—Happy Wife—Happy Life—for you and your family….
Keep the flame alive!
