An outstanding Engineer, Captain and friend. We spent some great years at 10’s fighting fires and enjoying life with a great crew led by Captain Frank Cutter. RIP Jerry.

I have known Jerry since we both worked at Fire Station 11 back in 1965. We worked again together at Fire Station 98 after we had both made promotions. In our Retirements I considered Jerry to be one of my best friends, along with Don Sitts who passed away last year. I will miss both of them. My wife, Marie, and I pass on our deepest condolences to Jerry’s wife Jeannie and the rest of his family.

Gerry was one of my good friends. He was an engineer at 98’S and I was a fireman. A lot of stories about Gerry McHale. Riding motorcycles at Alamo Mountain after work one day and we were just standing around deciding where to go next when Gerry shouted “remember the Alamo” and took off on his bike to the top of the hill. He was all by himself and I didn’t want him get somewhere where no could find him so I followed. We made it all the way to the top with no major incidents but I had someone throw a beer at me for doing so not understanding the situation. He will be surely missed. I hadn’t talked to him in a while so I didn’t know anything about him being sick until I heard of his death on an e-mail from you. Pat Brewster

Gerry McHale was my friend and mentor. I first met him as a rookie at FS 98 in 1975. He took me under his wing and guided me through my first few years on the job. His advice to me was “You need to get a reputation kid – good or bad, but you need one” We went on many fishing trips together with Larry Thomas and others. Motorcycle trips and water skiing trips were a regular occurance. Jeannie took me under her wing on these off duty trips and she become known as “Mom” to me. The stories are endless and the memories will last forever. Thank you Gerry for being my friend.
