On Saturday, July 8, 2023, members of Fire Station 14 active and retired, coupled with the Family of retired Engineer Rene Ortiz paid tribute to him at a flag ceremony in his honor. Also in attendance were Task Force and Squad 21, Battalions 1 and 11 with EMS 1.
