LAFD Chaplain, Msgr. Christian Van Liefde “Father Chris” – Plaque Unveilling

August 24 @ 11:00 am

The LAFD Historical Society and the LAFD Sertoma Club are unveiling a plaque honoring long-time LAFD Chaplain, Msgr. Christian Van Liefde. “Father Chris,” as he was fondly known, was unique in that his work with the LAFD was strictly voluntary.

For decades, Father Chris dedicated his time to helping with ABC’s “Spark of Love”, “Toys for Needy Children”, and the “Toys for Tots” programs. Many will remember Father Chris stopping at fire stations throughout the City, picking up toys and delivering them to Toy Central.

August 24, 2024, on 11:00 AM the LAFD Museum, old Fire Station 27, will host an unveiling of a plaque honoring his dedication. His travels included all LAFD stations, “Ground Zero” with the LAFD USAR team, and being an LAFD Chaplain for over 40 years.

All LAFD members and the general public are invited.
