I work with Gene at 63’s in the early 80’s. Although on a different shift, I had the opportunity to drive him. It was my pleasure to know him.
    My condolences to Gene’s family.

I worked with Gene at 15’s, my second house on probation. Although he was an “Autofireman” driving the Truck and I was on the Engine. I got to know him a little. Later on I was looking for a Truck to put a camper on, and Gene had a 72 Chevy with a camper, which I almost bought. The next thing I remember about Gene was when he was a C-II at 95’s, he fell out of the Truck while it was backing into quarters, how that happened I don’t remember.

May you Rest in Peace Gene.

Gene was one of our auto-firemen at 15’s in 1972. I believe this is what he was cut-out to do. Truck work was up his alley. Later in my career…Gene was my TFC at 63’s in Venice. His affectionate nickname was the “Dancing Bear” (Captain Kangaroo). He was as strong as a bear…lifting weights every shift. I am sorry to hear of his passing. “Ed Sandell”-Somis, Ca

Geno was a true character. He almost pulled a bus driver out of his bus when he attempted to drive through a blocked street. He got me into the Doheny surfing association. I spent many days at the beach with him. I helped roof his house in San Clemente. We met several times after he moved to Bishop when we were on our way to fish the Sierras. Always a joy to be around.
    RIP Gene

I was an Apparatus Operator when he was a Capt. I at FS-35. His life stories always made you feel how lucky you were. The one day he came to work and told us that his car in his San Clemente driveway rolled down the driveway, across the street and into his neighbors house. This was just a normal day for him. Then he makes Captain II and ends up at FS-95 where fell out of the apparatus hitting his head on the ground. Gene you were fun to work around. Rest in peace.

Sorry for the lateness of my comments. F.S.95 B was a fantastic group of firefighters and medics with Cap Rispaud as our fearless leader. Cap worked out religiously along with most of the crew. It was a chore to keep all of us in line. Some of my fondest memories and they’re many were at 95’s. Except when Cap was injured out in front of the Station. RIP GENE.
