I worked with Darrell at 68’s in mid 70’s. Great “little” Firefighter. Hard worker with a great sense of humor. Dependable. Always had a good story and put up with a lot of our pranks. Will be missed.
My sincere condolences to the Witt Family. My Dad, Gene Fairrington, was a friend of Darrell’s and they went to gun shows after they retired. My Dad passed away on April 17, 2022 so when I saw this notice, I thought…well, at least he has one more friend with him in heaven. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Thank you. I just got the latest issue of the Grapevine and saw that your Dad, Gene had passed away in April. I thought: Darrell has another friend up there. I’m sure they had a grand reunion.
I was so sad to read that Darrell has passed. He was one of my all time favorite men on the LAFD. He was my Engineer at 103’s., until he retired. Not only was he the kindest of all men, he was a great Engineer. One day, when his wife came to the station to visit, they walked, hand in hand over to the 7-11. He and his wife had a beautiful love for each other. Men don’t come any better than Darrell Witt.
