Rest In Peace Mr. Mc Cown. I remember when you and my Dad James H.Shern
    worked together.

He was a lovely and funny man. He was so down to earth one would have a hard time believing he was an Assistant Chief. One classic stories told of him was when he was at Div III and was in the kitchen at 33’s without his badge (gold). A SOD Paramendic came into the kitchen and mistook the Chief for the Ambulance Driver and told him that they had a run. The Chief took the call and drove the ambulance only to put his gold badge on when they returned to the station. From the kind of person he was, I have no doubt that this story is true. I had the occasion to be driven around town by the Chief while I served as an interpreter for some Fire Chiefs from Spain. That was an E-ticket event with white knuckles and sweaty palms. Rest In Peace Chief. You made the world a better place.
