Member Benefits

Medical Plan

 The Relief Fire Medical Plan is designed for firefighters by firefighters. It is the most comprehensive PPO Medical Plan available for our firefighter families. Unlike other medical insurance plans, our LAFRA Fire Fire Medical Plan seeks to provide greater consideration in areas widely utilized by our firefighters and their families.

Listed below are a few examples of what is unique and exceptional about the LAFRA Fire Medical Plan:

  • Pay 100% of charged amount for the first 30 days for a covered accident or injury;
  • All Co-pays are waived during the first 30 days following a covered accident or injury;
  • An appeals process conducted by firefighters for benefits not normally covered;
  • An in-house medical claims team available to answer and assist with your questions.

California members have access to the Anthem Blue Cross network of doctors and hospitals, while members residing outside of California have the Blue Cross/Blue Shield (Blue Card®) network.

As a self-administered plan, the Relief Association offers additional services, such as a high quality prescription drug plan and a Vision Service Plan. We are a FULL SERVICE PLAN, which enables us to render the best possible benefits to our firefighters and their families. For more information click here for details.

The Relief Association also offers access to a Kaiser HMO medical plan.
