Funeral Assistance

The death of a family member can be the most trying time in a person’s life causing great emotional and, perhaps, financial worry.  A great deal of uncertainty and fear accompanies a loved one’s death, and coping with the exhausting emotional grief of losing someone you love can be overwhelming. At the very same time, you are called upon to make several important and difficult decisions regarding funeral and burial arrangements.

Andy KuljisAt the Los Angeles Relief Association, we are here to assist you during this difficult time. Andy Kuljis, LAFRA Secretary, is on-call 24/7 to assist you with the process of coping with the passing of a loved one. From providing emotional support to assisting with funeral arrangements, Andy is here to help.

The Relief offers assistance in the following areas:

  • Financial – LAFRA, upon request, can offer assistance in the form of a cash
       advancement or expedite the death benefit;
  • Assist with choice of mortuary, and facilitate cremation or burial arrangements;
  • Upon notifying the Relief, Andy will contact the appropriate agencies for you;
  • Arrange for the publication of an obituary upon request (publication of obit is no
       longer paid for by LAFRA);
  • Coordinate with mortuary to transport remains;
  • Ensure the Social Security Administration receives Death Certificate;
  • Circulate death announcement to members and ensure information is on the
       Relief's Web site.
