Since 2008, Widows & Orphans has auctioned a wide range of donated items through the eBay Giving Works program to raise money for the charity. From collectibles and books to sporting equipment and even a motorhome, we've not only turned gift-in-kind donations into cash, we've spread awareness of the Widows, Orphans & Disabled Firemen's Fund to bargain hunters across the country.
Perhaps you have some items that you're interested in donating to Widows & Orphans to sell on eBay. It's as simple as contacting us and letting us know what it is you wish to donate. Send a list of the items you have and any pictures you wish to jhouser@lafra.org. We'll let you know if it something we can use for our eBay promotions (and if we currently have the storage space available).

AND MUCH MORE!!
- First, make sure your items are permitted on eBay. Visit http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/items-ov.html to see item restrictions by category. It's also a good idea to make sure that the item can be shipped via the United States Postal Service. Mailing standards information can be found at http://pe.usps.gov/text/pub52/welcome.htm.
- While eBay was once known as the "garage sale" of the Internet, many bidders these days are primarily looking for new items. However, it's still a great marketplace if you have used items in like-new condition or of some significant value (antiques, collectibles, designer clothing and accessories, musical instruments, etc). Old department store clothing and beat-up VHS tapes aren't big sellers, however.
- Since these items will be sold directly under the Widows-And-Orphans eBay account, they shouldn't be anything that would reflect poorly on the LAFD or associated organizations. For example, an ashtray collection might not be in the best taste.
- The price you originally paid isn't always a good indicator of what it's worth now. That expensive designer coat might not be of interest to current fashion followers, while that free promotional item you picked up at a movie screening might now be a very sought-after collectible.
- Items that are small and lightweight are among the easiest to sell because the shipping cost is the lowest for the bidder. However, eBay does allow auctions to be listed as requiring local pickup. eBay Motors remains a great venue for selling cars and other vehicles.
- Collections and sets are especially popular with buyers, as it gives them the chance to get more of the items they want at once.
