Durable medical equipment is a term used to describe any medical equipment used in the home to aid in a better quality of living. A Relief Member can qualify for this benefit in two ways A) under the LAFRA Fire Medical Plan, or B) as a Relief Association Member.
Examples of Durable Medical Equipment include hospital beds, muscle or bone stimulators, wound-closure devices, wheel chairs, bathtub benches and grab bars, crutches, folding walkers, bedside commodes and lift chairs. Much of this type of equipment is stored onsite at the LAFRA office.
