Bowlers Strike it Rich for WODFF

There were quite a few X’s and even more /’s, but the Widows, Orphans and Disabled Firemen’s Fund was the big winner at a recent bowling tournament held at the Corbin Bowl. LAFD members, families and friends were joined by actress Kristy Swanson of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” fame at the LAFRA charity event.

Keenan Porche, Battalion 18 S/A, organized the fun-filled evening with the assistance of Corbin Bowl manager and long-time LAFD friend Gary Montgomery. A silent auction included a drawing for an authentic LAFD helmet signed by Ms. Swanson.

Moonlight bowling and loud music were the order of the evening, so there were no perfect games. But the big trophy went to WODFF, which received more than $6,000 to help members of our fire family. A great fundraiser for a very worthy cause – but an amount we know can be beat next year! Plan to be there!
